Northland Stars December ’19 Newsletter

Quilting Group

This is the last newsletter of the year and the northland quilters have some special holiday items to show you today. Some people are going to get some really precious stuff this year.

Terri put together a really cool tiger lap blanket for her son. The dimension of color is so awesome. She also showed us a multi-color quilt and a beautiful Christmas quilt topper done by hand that she completed in blocks, and now is looking for a backing. Terri also completed the travel iron carrier. It folds up around your travel iron when it’s warm, and when it’s flat, one side you iron on and the other is decorative fabric.

Ilene brought the new hot pad / trivets to show. With this pattern you can design them to fit anyones’s taste.

Ida brought her mitt and trivia from kitchen utensils class held at MoSew this pass November.  But she has been really busy completing this fantastic Christmas quilt. It’s gorgeous!!

Heidi made a jacket with material from the movie Frozen II.

Linda was busy this month again making those adorable Christmas embroidery towels. Who wouldn’t want one of those on their Christmas list? She also made a three-part hanging sign. So festive!!!

Barbara brought this adorable snowman quilt with red flange binding.

Debbie has been busy this month sewing for Christmas and also sewing for charity. She did the kitchen utility class as well, and brought some quilts for the missions. Debbie likes to quilt utensils. She’s done a roto blade cutter quilt here. In the kitchen utility class she completed several adorable potholders/trivets as well as an oven mitt out of tulla pink material and a snack bag.

Lauren finished her Irish chain lap quilt done in Christmas fabric. She also completed these retro Coca-Cola potholders/trivets.

Doris is giving potholders/trivets away for Christmas gifts. I bet you wish you were on her list now that you have a peak of what she’s giving away.

Emily and Natasha enter a dealer’s Janome contest where they had to utilize the Janome Apps. Emily entered a red pillow with a sleigh globe and Natasha entered a nostalgic Santa face in picture form. The great news is that Emily won the competition and Natasha came in third! Congratulations Ladies!

I want to thank my sister-in-law Vicki for taking notes and pictures of everyone’s items. With this being the last newsletter of 2019 I wish everyone a Happy Holidays. And I look forward to the year 2020 and all the creative energy that flows through the Northland waiting to seeing what items (quilts, lap quilts, purses, bags, crafts, & sewing etc….) are created in the ensuing year.
